Del Pasco Mine

In 1870, the Del Pasco mine was discovered high in the Bradshaw Mountains. At the time it was rumored to be one of the richest gold discoveries around. Even miners from the original Walker Party came to work here. At one point there may have been 30 people living in this mining camp. After about 10 years the excitement died and miners moved on to other flourishing mines in the area. The Del Pasco has had a few comebacks through the years. Today a few old homes still stand with one toppled over. Water towers and other mining equipment fill the area. The Del Pasco is located near Towers Mountain, just north of Crown King. In winter the area is usually covered in snow but open other times of the year.
